Teen court the mission of
A juvenile justice diversion program for early teen offenders where youth, accompanied by their parents, go in front of an adult judge and a jury of teen peers, who create unique and restorative sentences, rather than the traditional juvenile justice or school disciplinary process. Typical crimes referred to Teen Court include alcohol and drug offenses, petty theft, burglary, assault, driving offenses, curfew violations, trespassing, graffiti and vandalism. The youth must take responsibility for their offense before attending their peer review hearing and agree to accept the sentence provided by the jury. There is a fee for all services and a sliding fee scale is available upon request. No client will be turned away due to inability to pay for services.

About Teen Court Metroport Teen Court is a voluntary program which allows juvenile, Class C misdemeanor offenders to "pay" for their citation through community service and involvement in the judicial process. These cases are presented by volunteer Teen Court attorneys to a jury of the defendant's peers that is made up of volunteers for local secondary schools and returning youth who were previously defendants. Upon successful completion of the program, the defendant's citation will be dismissed.

What is Teen Court?
Midland Teen Court works to interrupt developing patterns of illegal behavior by motivating youth for self-improvement, developing healthy attitudes toward authority, and increasing self-esteem. Teen Court stresses the responsibility and accountability of each individual for his actions. Service on a Midland Teen Court jury challenges individual youth to perform at the highest level of ability.

Global Youth Justice achieves this through favorable outcomes that result from advancing the global expansion of quality volunteer-driven youth justice and juvenile justice voluntary diversion programs often called youth court, teen court, peer court, student court and peer jury. While there exist greater linkages today between nations and peoples than our planet has likely ever known, we still see all around us an ever-increasing divide between the rich and poor. This is especially transparent in the disproportionate representation of the poor and those with a disease in the juvenile justice system and criminal justice system.
